Shell Bonga Deepwater Buoy

Offshore Fabrication
About This Project

The Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCO) Bonga field was the first deep-water project of its kind in Nigeria. The Bonga Deepwater Buoy was awarded to Nigerdock in April 2003. The contract was to complete the fabrication of a deep-water single point mooring (SPM) buoy to facilitate crude oil transfer from a floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) to export tankers in deep-water depth of over 1000m.

In June, 2004 a major feat in the history of oil and gas deep-water development in Nigeria was recorded on the successful completion and launching of the first deep-water SPM buoy built in-country.
